Ice Storm Limits Workshop Participation
The ice prevented one of our presenters and half of the registrants from attending our third “Keys for Faithful Church Interpreting” workshop on Jan. 13, 2007. The event was hosted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, Illinois. Although few in number, we enjoyed presentations by Rev. Ron Friedrich, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church of the Deaf in Silver Spring, MD, and Gallaudet University head of chaplains. Snacks and lunch were served by members of Good Shepherd. The first two "Keys" workshops were financed by a grant from the Marvin M. Schwan Foundation. The '07 event was funded by Christ Lutheran Church of the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois, through gifts from various congregations in the Central Illinois District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.
